Informational Hearing - Baltimore City Recycling Program
For the purpose of inviting the Director of the Department of Public Works and the Head of the Bureau of Solid Waste to discuss Baltimore City’s recycling program and its progress.

Recitals
Recycling helps protect Baltimore City and the surrounding region by reducing the amount of trash that needs to be kept in a landfill or incinerated and by decreasing emissions of greenhouse gases. Objects such as paper, clean glass containers, bottles, and cardboard can all be recycled in curbside recycling. In Baltimore City, curbside recycling does not have to be placed in recycling bins - instead, residents can put their recycling in any container they want (except for a plastic bag) and label it “recycling” to get their curbside recycling picked up.
Some objects cannot be handled by curbside recycling, such as hazardous waste and rigid plastics, and electronics. Some forms of household hazardous waste can be recycled at the Northwest Citizens Convenience Center. Many electronics and rigid plastics can be dropped off at Citizen’s Drop-Off Centers 1-5.
