Section 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, That the Laws of Baltimore City read as follows:

Title 7. Open-Space and Environmental Districts

Subtitle 2
Open-space Zoning Districts

§ 7-204. Other applicable standards.

(h) Tree canopy preservation.

(1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subtitle, a tree may not be removed from a privately-owned property within an Open-Space Zoning District without the approval of the Forestry Division of the Department of Recreation and Parks.

(2) The Forestry Division may only approve of the removal of a healthy tree under this subsection if the Division finds that the removal would not significantly affect the City’s tree canopy.
