Request for State Action - Immediate Implementation of Local Control of the Baltimore City Police Department

For the purpose of calling on the Maryland General Assembly to pass, and the Governor to sign, legislation that would immediately implement local control of the Baltimore City Police Department, as endorsed by City voters during the November 2022 election.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Baltimore, That the City Council calls on the Maryland General Assembly to pass, and the Governor to sign, legislation that would immediately implement local control of the Baltimore City Police Department, as endorsed by City voters during the November 2022 election.  

 

And be it further resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Honorable Chairs and Members of the Baltimore City House and Senate Delegations to the Maryland General Assembly, the President of the Maryland Senate, the Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, the Mayor, and the Mayor’s Legislative Liaison to the City Council.
