Informational Hearing - Streamlining the Procurement Process

For the purpose of requesting representatives from the Bureau of Procurement, the Office of the Baltimore City Administrator, the Department of Finance, Baltimore City Information and Technology, and the Office of the Comptroller to come before the Baltimore City Council to provide a comprehensive briefing on the procurement process and any current efforts to improve the process, and to suggest potential innovations and improvements that could be made to Baltimore City’s procurement system.

Recitals

 

Baltimore City’s agencies and their employees rely on the City’s procurement process to provide them with the commodities and services they need to deliver exceptional service to the citizens of Baltimore.  The City Council would like information on the current process being used to provide City agencies with the resources they need, updates regarding any ongoing efforts to streamline the process, and any potential innovations that could be implemented to help Baltimore City agencies continue to deliver exceptional service to the public while promoting transparency, fairness, social inclusion, and sustainability

 

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Baltimore, that the City Council requests that representatives from the Bureau of Procurement, the Office of the Baltimore City Administrator, the Department of Finance, Baltimore City Information and Technology, and the Office of the Comptroller to come before the Baltimore City Council to provide a comprehensive briefing on the procurement process and any current efforts to improve the process, and to suggest potential improvement’s to Baltimore City’s procurement system. 

 

And be it further resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the City Solicitor, the City Purchasing Agent, the Baltimore City Administrator, the Director of the Department of Finance, the Baltimore City Chief Information Technology Officer, the Baltimore City Comptroller, and the Mayor’s Legislative Liaison to the City Council.
