State of Emergency - Continuation
For the purpose of expressing the Baltimore City Council’s consent under State Public Safety Article § 14-111 for extending and continuing the Mayor's State of Emergency declaration, dated March 26, 2024.

Recitals
Whereas, Under State Public Safety Article § 14-111, the consent of the governing body of a political subdivision is required to continue or renew a state of emergency beyond 30 days.
Whereas, On March 26, 2024, Mayor Brandon S. Scott declared a state of emergency for Baltimore City and issued an accompanying executive order implementing the City’s emergency operations plan.
Whereas, The collision of the Dali container ship with the Francis Scott Key Bridge (“Key Bridge”) is a public safety and economic emergency that continues to adversely affect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Baltimore.
Whereas, The City must continue to take measures to protect the persons affected by these circumstances, including continued implementation of Baltimore City’s emergency operations plan.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Baltimore, That the Council expresses its consent under State Public Safety Article § 14-111 for extending and continuing the Mayor’s State of Emergency declaration dated March 26, 2024.
And be it further resolved, That the Council consents to the Mayor’s declaration of a
state of emergency remaining in effect as of April 26, 2024 and consents to the indefinite extension of this state of emergency declaration until such time as the Key Bridge emergency has subsided.
And be it further resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to Mayor, the City Solicitor, and the Mayor’s Legislative Liaison to the Baltimore City Council.
