Recitals

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, America is witnessing a dramatic growth in the number of citizens 55 or older, a trend that will continue through the 21st century. As the population ages, older Americans will play an increasingly important role in our economy and America’s leadership in the world marketplace. By 2014, 41% of Americans 55 or older will be employed, making up over 21% of the U.S. labor force.

As older workers continue to play an increasingly important role in our economy, on both the national and local level, the assets of these workers will need to be recognized, utilized, and continuously built upon. The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) supports these goals by giving older workers from low-income households a chance to update and enhance their skills through on-the-job training with participating host agencies.
