City Retiree on the Health Insurance Committee

For the purpose of placing a representative of the Baltimore City Retiree’s Association on the Health Insurance Committee.

                     Recitals

 

Whereas, The Health Insurance Committee is dedicated to the benefit and enhancement of healthcare for active employees represented by recognized City unions.

 

Whereas, Determinations made by the Healthcare Insurance Committee influence active and retired employees, but Baltimore City retirees are not afforded a seat on the Committee.

 

Whereas, This oversight is an affront to the dedicated service of retirees of the Baltimore City government.

 

Whereas, Baltimore City retirees should be represented on the Healthcare Insurance Committee.

 

Whereas, A representative of the Baltimore City Retiree Association’s should have a seat on the Healthcare Insurance Committee.

 

Whereas, The Baltimore City Retiree Association’s representative should be notified of all dates, times, and locations of Healthcare Insurance Committee meetings.

 

Whereas, The Baltimore City Retiree Association’s representative should be notified of any projected cost increases, reductions, or modifications to medical and prescription coverages affecting retirees.

 

Whereas, The Baltimore City Retiree Association’s representative should meet with the City to discuss any cost increases, reductions, or modifications to medical or prescription coverages affecting retirees.

 

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Baltimore, that a representative of the Baltimore City Retiree’s Association be placed on the Health Insurance Committee. 

 

 

And be it further resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Health Insurance Committee, the Baltimore City Retiree’s Association, and the Mayor’s Legislative Liaison to the City Council.
