Recognizing October as Anti-Bullying Month
For the purpose of recognizing October as Anti-Bullying Month and calling on all schools and organizations dealing with youth in Baltimore to do their part to bring awareness to the bullying crisis and work to end bullying.

Recitals
A national study showed that 49% of students have been bullied in one way or another (physical, verbal, or cyber) while in grades 4 through 12.
Bullying is a public health crisis effecting not only our children but people of all ages.
Every October, schools and organizations across the country observe National Bullying Prevention Month. The goal is to encourage communities to work together to stop bullying and cyberbullying by increasing awareness of its prevalence and impact.
We call on all schools and organizations dealing with youth in Baltimore to do their part in bringing awareness to this crisis. Bullying causes such distress that often children will harm themselves or even commit suicide. With enough education and attention to this crisis we can end bullying.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Baltimore, That the Council recognizes October as Anti-Bullying Month and calls on all schools and organizations dealing with youth in Baltimore to do their part to bring awareness to the bullying crisis and work to end bullying.
And be it further resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Mayor, the CEO of Baltimore City Public Schools, the Health Commissioner, the Director of Recreation and Parks, and the Mayor’s Legislative Liaison to the City Council.
