Councilmember Edward “Ed” Reisinger, a lifelong resident of South Baltimore, first joined the Baltimore City Council in 1990. He represented the 6th District from 1990-1991 and again from 1995-2004. He was elected to represent the residents of Baltimore’s 10th District in 2004, and has remained on the City Council since that victory. He served as Vice President of the City Council for almost a decade, from 2007-2016. Councilmember Reisinger has fought to improve the environment and reduce air pollution, which especially impacts the communities in his district. He was the primary sponsor of the City’s Clean Air Act, which seeks to reduce air pollution and improve people’s health.
Councilmember Reisinger is the longtime chair of the City Council’s Land Use Committee. It was under his key leadership that the TransForm Baltimore Zoning Code was passed. This massive update to the City’s Zoning Code took 5 years and over 45 hearings to complete. Councilmember Reisinger is a member of the 10th District United Democratic Club, Morrell Park & St. Paul Community Association, and the COP Program. The residents of South Baltimore are very grateful to Councilmember Reisinger. The President and all members of the City Council will miss Councilmember Reisinger and thank him for his service.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Baltimore, That the City Council recognizes Councilmember Edward Reisinger for his decades of service to Baltimore City, on his retirement from the Baltimore City Council.
And be it further resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to Councilmember Edward Reisinger, the Mayor, and the Mayor’s Legislative Liaison to the City Council.
