Section 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, That the Laws of Baltimore City read as follows:

Article 23. Sanitation
Subtitle 1. Definitions; General Provisions
§ 1-4. Public Works to provide sanitation services.
(a) In general.
The Director of Public Works has charge of the following services, as authorized or required to be done by the City:
(1) the cleaning of the public streets, lanes, and alleys; and
(2) the collection and removal of mixed refuse and recyclable materials.
(b) Collection frequency.
(1) In general.
For premises that receive collection services, the Director of Public Works shall provide for:
(i) [(1)] the collection of mixed refuse once a week; and
(ii) [(2)] the collection of recyclable materials once a week.
(2) Failure to provide for collection services.
If the Director of Public Works fails to meet the provisions of
paragraph (1) of this subsection, the Director of Public Works is subject to a fine of $1,000.
(3) Each day a separate offense.
Each day that a violation continues is a separate offense.
Section 2. And be it further ordained, That this Ordinance takes effect on the 30th day after the date it is enacted.
