Scrap - Collectors, Scavengers, Processors, and Others - Penalties
FOR the purpose of increasing the penalties for violations by scrap collectors, scavengers, scrap metal processors, and others who collect, buy, process, sell, transport, or otherwise deal in scrap; and correcting, conforming, and clarifying related provisions.

SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That the Laws of Baltimore City read as follows:

Article 2. Consumer Protections
Subtitle 7. Scrap Collectors and Scavengers
§ 710. Penalties.
(a) In general.
Any scrap collector, scavenger, or other person who violates any provision of this subtitle OR OF A RULE OR REGULATION ADOPTED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE is guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, is subject to a fine of not more than [$500] $1,000 for each offense.
(b) Each day a separate offense.
Each day that a violation continues is a separate offense.
Subtitle 8. Scrap Metal Processors
§ 814. Penalties.
(A) IN GENERAL.
Any scrap metal processor or other person who [willfully or knowingly] violates any provision of this subtitle OR OF A RULE OR REGULATION ADOPTED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE is guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, is subject to a fine of not more than [$500] $1,000 for each offense.
(B) EACH DAY A SEPARATE OFFENSE.
EACH DAY THAT A VIOLATION CONTINUES IS A SEPARATE OFFENSE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That the catchlines contained in this Ordinance are not law and may not be considered to have been enacted as a part of this or any prior Ordinance.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this Ordinance takes effect on the 30th day after the date it is enacted.
