Recitals
This Ordinance amends Ordinance 06-238 to further specify the purposes and uses of this Civic Promotion appropriation, in conformity with the legislative history and legislative intent of Ordinance 06-238.
This Ordinance does not appropriate any additional revenue beyond that appropriated in Ordinance 06-238.
On June 28, 2006, the Board of Estimates recommended this Ordinance to the City Council.
SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That the Laws of Baltimore City read as follows:

SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That, IN ORDER TO PROMOTE TOURISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN BALTIMORE, $297,500 shall be made available to the MR-Civic Promotion - Program 590 (Civic Promotion) as a Supplementary General Fund Operating Appropriation for Fiscal Year 2006, to provide funding for support of the 2006 National Baptist [Convention,] CONVENTION'S TRANSPORTATION NEEDS, USE OF THE 1ST MARINER ARENA, AND "Feed the Hungry Event"[,] activities. The source of revenue for this appropriation is from the Fiscal 2005 Fund Balance in excess of the amount from this source that was relied on by the Board of Estimates in determining the tax levy required to balance the budget for Fiscal Year 2005.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this Ordinance takes effect on the date it is enacted.
