Investigative Hearing - Speed Camera Program
FOR the purpose of calling the Department of Transportation to report to the City Council on the City of Baltimore’s Speed Camera Program, and to discuss both the effectiveness of the program and how the program can be improved and made more efficient and effective.

Recitals
The City Council has a traditional oversight role that requires it to ensure that all practices and processes entrusted to the City are operated in a manner that exhibits the upmost integrity, and that City programs provide fair and accurate results for Baltimore’s employees, visitors, and citizens.
Recently, the City’s speed camera program has come under intense scrutiny from the media and citizens alike. Reports have surfaced of citizens receiving tickets incorrectly, and some are challenging the legality of the placement of some cameras.
Given the serious questions raised about this most important of issues, it is important that the Council exercise its oversight responsibilities to review the Department of Transportation’s Speed Camera Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That the Council calls the Department of Transportation to report to it on the City of Baltimore’s Speed Camera Program, and to discuss both the effectiveness of the ...
