Retirement Systems - Benefits
FOR the purpose of extending the period for filing applications for disability retirement benefits; conforming certain provisions that govern in-service military leaves of absence to federal and state law; establishing effective dates for disability retirement benefits; amending provisions granting certain disability and death benefits to members on military leaves of absence; clarifying the calculation for figuring the minimum years of service credit needed to be eligible to receive certain death benefits; abolishing certain offsets against disability benefits and the authority for reexamining certain disability applicants; conforming the basis for determining retirement allowances for elected officials to that provided in the Employees' Retirement System law and the Fire and Police Employees' Retirement System law; providing certain transitional rules; clarifying, correcting, and conforming certain language; providing for a special effective date; providing for certain transitional rules; and generally relating to the Retirement Systems of Baltimore City.
