SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That the Laws of Baltimore City read as follows:

Subtitle 75. Police Districts

§ 75-1. IN GENERAL.

THE POLICE COMMISSIONER MAY DIVIDE THE CITY INTO AS MANY POLICE DISTRICTS AS THE COMMISSIONER DETERMINES TO BE NECESSARY OR APPROPRIATE FOR THE EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT’S FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES.

§ 75-2. PERIODIC REDISTRICTING.

(A) IN GENERAL.


WITHIN 9 MONTHS AFTER THE UNITED STATES CENSUS BUREAU PUBLISHES ITS DECENNIAL CENSUS DATA FOR BALTIMORE CITY, THE COMMISSIONER SHALL PREPARE AND, AFTER PUBLICATION AND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENT, ADOPT AND IMPLEMENT A PLAN FOR POLICE REDISTRICTING.
