FOR the purpose of requesting the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Department of Finance to report to the City Council about the overtime costs incurred by the Police Department and other City agencies; the potential, future workmen's compensation costs for claims, by members of the Police Department and other City agencies, that may arise from injuries sustained during the recent period of unrest and civil emergency; the reimbursement costs to other jurisdictions for the services of their law enforcement personnel; how all these costs will be paid; and the impact of these costs on the City's budget.

The recent unrest and civil emergency in Baltimore required many members of the Police Department and other City agencies to put in extra hours of duty, which will result in overtime pay by the City. If there were injuries sustained in the course of duty, claims may arise for workmen?s compensation, which has the potential to cost the City a lot of money. When the Fiscal Year 2015 Ordinance of Estimates was formulated, no one could anticipate the events that recently occurred, and thus no funds were set aside for them.
