Informational Hearing - Violence in the Workplace

FOR the purpose of requesting that union leaders, various employers and employees brief the Council regarding their views on violence in the workplace in order to aide in the development of a plan of action to help reduce future occurrences of violence, vandalism and sabotage in the workplaces within the City of Baltimore.

Recitals

Over the last few months, there have been a number of occurrences of violence directly related to reactions or situations that have occurred in the workplace. In order to aide business owners in avoiding violent confrontations from employees or former employees, a plan of action should be developed to educate employers on how to deal with certain situations, as well as how to utilize various placement programs. Having employers and employees educated on the resources available to them will hopefully create a safer, and more comfortable working situation for employers as well as employees in the Baltimore area.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That this Body requests that union leaders, various employers and Employees to brief the Council regarding their views on violence in the workplace, to aide in the development of a plan of action to help reduce future occurrences of violence, vandalism and sabota...
