AN ORDINANCE concerning

Title

Sale of Property - 1407 Key Highway

 

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to sell, at either public or private sale, all its interest in certain property known as 1407 Key Highway (Block 1998, Lot 001) and no longer needed for public use; and providing for a special effective date.

SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That, in accordance with Article V, § 5(b) of the City Charter, the City Comptroller may sell, at either public or private sale, all the interest of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore in the property known as 1407 Key Highway (Block 1998, Lot 001), and more particularly described as follows:

 

The subject parcel (Block 1998, Lot 001) is improved by a one-story plus balcony building, containing approximately 39,369 square feet and an outbuilding containing approximately 1650 square feet.  The parcel is located on the east side of Key Highway, east of the intersection of Webster Street and Key Highway, and contains approximately 2.410 acres of land, of which 1.541 acres is fast land and 0.869 acres is submerged land.

 

The parcel is the current location of the City's Fire Department repair facility.  This facility, along with the City's Central Garage/Fleet Maintenance facility, will move to a new facility to be constructed at 3800 East Biddle Street.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of 1407 Key Highway will help fund the first phase of the Center for Aquatic Life and Conservation (CALC), a major project to be developed by the National Aquarium in Baltimore (NAIB) on the north side of the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River.

 

This property being no longer needed for public use.

 

SECTION 2.  AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That no deed may pass under this Ordinance unless the deed has been approved by the City Solicitor.

 

 

 

SECTION 3.  AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this Ordinance takes effect on the date it is enacted.
