A COUNCIL RESOLUTION concerning
Title
Placement of the Clarence H. "Du" Burns Memorial on the Grounds of Baltimore's City Hall Plaza

FOR the purpose of supporting the efforts of The Clarence H. "Du" Burns Memorial Fund, Inc., in urging the Mayor to allow placement of the Clarence H. "Du" Burns Memorial (hereinafter "the "Du" Burns Memorial") on the grounds of Baltimore's City Hall Plaza.

The late Clarence H. "Du" Burns holds the distinction of serving as the City of Baltimore's 45th and first African American Mayor, President and Vice-President of the Baltimore City Council. The Clarence H. "Du" Burns Memorial Fund, Inc., will commission a life-sized memorial, 10 feet in height overall, depicting the image and likeness of former Mayor Burns. The City Council requests that the Mayor and the Department of Recreation and Parks consider its placement as a permanent memorial, centered in that portion of City Hall Plaza nearest to the railing, which separates it from War Memorial Plaza. Placement of the "Du" Burns Memorial within City Hall Plaza will serve as a permanent tribute to Mayor Burns' historic and trailblazing accomplishments as well as his unselfish service to the citizens of Baltimore.
