A COUNCIL RESOLUTION concerning

Maryland Food Bank

FOR the purpose of expressing approval of the application of the Maryland Food Bank to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for approval Emergency Food for Baltimore City, a project that supports food distribution to the more than 500 emergency food providers in Baltimore City and for an allocation of tax credits for business entities that contribute to the project under the Department's Neighborhood Partnership Program.

WHEREAS, The Maryland Food Bank, a nonprofit organization, proposes to undertake "Emergency Food for Baltimore City" the project described above (the "Project"); and

WHEREAS, The recipients of the Project's services include food pantries, soup kitchens, youth programs, rehabilitation centers, shelters, and other sites that provide food to the City's impoverished population. The Maryland Food Bank receives food from businesses that donate their salvage and excess inventory and also purchases high protein food to supplement donated products.
