FOR the purpose of calling on representatives from the Mayor’s Youth Cabinet and the Bureau of the Budget Management and Research to appear before the City Council to discuss the current FY 2014 Children’s Budget and the proposed FY 2015 Children’s Budget to assess the impact that any proposed reductions and/or elimination of current levels of funding would have on providing high quality programs, services, and opportunities to the children and families of Baltimore City.

WHEREAS, On June 17, 2013, the Mayor signed into law the Ordinance of Estimates for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014, which provides the appropriations estimated to be needed by each agency of the City of Baltimore for operating programs and capital projects during the fiscal 2014 year; and

WHEREAS, On February 7, 2011, the Mayor announced the creation of a new Mayor’s Youth Cabinet to better coordinate the City’s collective resources and services for children, with the Cabinet also focusing on leveraging state, federal, foundation, and private funding to enhance outcomes for our youth; and
