FOR the purpose of thanking Jim Green for his years of faithful and exemplary service to the citizens of Baltimore, congratulating him on his appointment as a judge on the District Court for Baltimore City, and wishing him well as he begins this next chapter in his career and life.

Recitals
     
      WHEREAS, On February 24, 2014 Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley announced that he had appointed Jim Green to serve on the District Court for Baltimore City.
 
     WHEREAS, This appointment caps Jim Green's exemplary 22 year career as a public servant working to make Baltimore better and safer.
 
     WHEREAS, Jim Green has faithfully served the citizens of Baltimore as a Baltimore City Police Department employee for more than a decade.
 
     WHEREAS, Jim Green has served in a number of roles for the Police Department, most recently as Director of Government Affairs.
 
     WHEREAS, under Jim Green's leadership, the City has celebrated many important legislative accomplishments, and numerous improvements to Police operational and public safety policies have been implemented.
 
     WHEREAS, Jim Green has worked cooperatively and efficiently with the City's many public safety partners on the local, State, and Federal level in order to leverage city efforts to the greatest extent possible.
 
     WHEREAS, Jim Green had previously served the citizens of Baltimore as a State and Federal prosecutor for nearly a decade, handling cases ranging from juvenile matters and misdemeanors all the way up to violent offenders targeted by joint Federal/State task forces.
 
     WHEREAS,  Jim Green has shown tireless enthusiasm and professionalism in his lifelong efforts to improve public safety and ensure justice for all Baltimoreans.
 
 
     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, that the City Council of Baltimore thanks Jim Green for his years of faithful and exemplary service to the citizens of Baltimore, congratulates him on his appointment as a judge on the District Court for Baltimore City, and wishes him well as he begins this next chapter in his career and life.
      
      AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Mayor, the Police Commissioner, the Police Department's Director of Government Affairs, and the Mayor's Legislative Liaison to the City Council.
