FOR the purpose of joining with baseball fans nationwide in celebrating the life of Paul Blair; recognizing his outstanding contributions to the Orioles as a center fielder; commemorating his many achievements; and supporting the efforts of fans to recognize Paul Blair at the September 12, 2014 Orioles’ game.

Recitals

On December 26, 2013, Orioles’ center fielder Paul Blair died at the age of 69. Paul Blair, an outfielder for seventeen seasons in Major League Baseball, spent the majority of his career (19641976) with the Baltimore Orioles. Blair is known as the greatest center fielder in Orioles’ history.

Blair, born in Oklahoma, was raised in Los Angeles where he excelled at basketball, baseball, and track. After high school, Blair signed as an amateur free agent with the New York Mets and was drafted by the Orioles in the 1962 firstyear draft. Blair joined the Orioles lineup in 1965 and played center field for the Orioles for thirteen seasons.

As an Orioles’ player, Blair was awarded seven consecutive Gold Gloves, the second most in Orioles’ history. Blair was a two time All Star in 1969 and 1972 and contributed to two Orioles World Series wins in 1966 and 1970.
