Police Department Forfeiture Funds
For the purpose of requesting that Police Department representatives and the Director of Finance appear before the City Council to provide information on the use of forfeiture funds by the Police Department, over the past 5 years.

Over the past several years, the Police Department has overspent, by a significant amount, its allocated budget, thus necessitating the need for supplementary appropriation legislation, the funds for which could have been used for other priorities of the City.

Police forfeiture activity has generated revenue for the Department, but it is not known how these funds are being used. Could they be used to help defray the additional expenses incurred annually by the Police Department? What formal policies exist within the Department that govern the use of these funds? What accountability procedures for the use of these funds is currently in place?

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Baltimore, That the Baltimore City Council requests that Police Department representatives and the Director of Finance appear before this Body to provide information on the use of forfeiture funds by the Police Department, over the past 5 years.

And be it further resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Acting Baltimore City Police Commissione...
