TBS is an innovative therapeutic residential treatment program supporting veterans and others who are transitioning from the cycle of poverty, addiction, and homelessness to self-sufficiency.  TBS is a nationally recognized treatment program that has been operating since 1989.  It currently serves 138 men in residential treatment programs who are located in Sandtown-Winchester and South Baltimore.

A therapeutic residential recovery program primarily serving homeless male veterans of the Armed Services, the organization was selected by the Home Depot Foundation to be in their monthly contest to vie for a $25,000 contribution.

Through a monthly Facebook voting program called "Aprons in Action", the Home Depot Foundation provides the public with the opportunity to help distribute $1,000,000 to local nonprofit organizations.  The 2013 program is dedicated to nonprofits that benefit veterans.  Each month 4 nonprofits will be featured, and the one that wins the most votes from Facebook users will be awarded a $25,000 gift card from the Home Depot.  The other 3 organizations will win a $5,000 gift card.

The Baltimore City Council congratulates TBS on being selected out of a national pool of nonprofits by the Home Depot Foundation for this competition and thanks them for their continued service to our veterans.

The Baltimore City Council further encourages all Baltimoreans to go to the Baltimore Station's Facebook page and vote every day in April.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That this Body congratulates the Baltimore Station (TBS) for being selected by the Home Depot Foundation as a finalist out of a national pool of nonprofits, for the chance to win $25,000; calls on Baltimoreans to vote in favor of TBS; and applauds the life changing efforts of TBS to help veterans embrace a life of recovery, health, and self-sufficiency.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Baltimore Station and to the Mayor's Legislative Liaison to the City Council.
