Baltimore Innovation Week - September 12-20, 2014
FOR the purpose of recognizing September 12-20, 2014 as Baltimore Innovation Week; encouraging all Baltimoreans to participate in the series of scheduled events, conversations, and actions around technology and innovation; and commending the broad technology community for creating jobs, increasing community, and remaining committed to making a better Baltimore through technology.

Recitals
WHEREAS, Baltimore's innovation, technology, and creative communities are again coming together for the 3rd Annual Baltimore Innovation Week.
WHEREAS, These communities - with leadership from local technology news organization Technical.ly Baltimore - are planning dozens of events as part of a week-long celebration of technology and innovation in Baltimore for the week of September 12th to 20th, 2014.
WHEREAS, This year's program aims to continue building off the success of the last 2 years' Innovation Weeks that hosted thousands of participants and each of which featured more than 30 events that helped to launch dozens of beneficial projects here in Baltimore.
WHEREAS, Innovation Week includes events such as Battle O' Baltimore's FIRST Robotics Competition, Family Game Jam, Women/InTech conference, Ignite Baltimore, Dev Day, MyCity4Her Ms. Tech Social Happy Hour, #Socent Breakfast, an entrepreneur bootcamp, discussions with Baltimore technology, creative, entrepreneurship, and civic leaders, and many others.
WHEREAS, participating organizations include Technical.ly Baltimore, Bootstrappers Breakfast, Agora, AIGA Baltimore, AOL/Advertising.com, the Gathering, Back Forty, MyCity4Her, Betamore, Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, EventRebels, Future Makers, Evolve Communications, Maryland FIRST, Greater Baltimore Committee, Baltimore Social Enterprise, Message Systems, National Electronics Museum, Mindgrub, Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development, Naden/Lean, LLC, Baltimore Design School, OrderUp, Baltimore Node, PayPal, Flying Dog, R2integrated (r2i), Girl Develop It, Saul Ewing, Ignite Baltimore, Simplified Innovations, Fab Lab Baltimore, TEDCO, Alchemy, Tenable Network Security, Code in the Schools, The Abell Foundation, Refresh Baltimore, The Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, Chesapeake Regional Tech Council, University of Maryland BioPark, ETC, MidAtlantic Marketing Summit, University of Loyola Maryland, Baltimore Museum of Art, Wasabi Ventures, SocEnt Breakfast, Startup Grind Baltimore, Startup Maryland, Stevenson University, Tech Breakfast, The Digital Harbor, The Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MDMEP), Under Armor, and Visit Baltimore.
WHEREAS, together, these organizations, and the thousands of inspired individuals who will be participating in Innovation Week, have the potential to reshape Baltimore for the better in many ways; and their commitment to doing so should be celebrated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, that the Council recognizes September 12-20, 2014 as Baltimore Innovation Week; encourages all Baltimoreans to participate in the series of scheduled events, conversations, and actions around technology and innovation; and commends the broad technology community for creating jobs, increasing community, and remaining committed to making a better Baltimore through technology.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Mayor, the organizers of Baltimore Innovation Week, and the Mayor's Legislative Liaison to the City Council.
