Recitals
There currently exists an unnamed, private 190-foot street, in the vicinity of 301 East Cromwell Street in Port Covington, with the following boundaries:
Beginning for the same at a point on the East Side of East Cromwell Street (variable width), the point being distant South 32 degrees 24 minutes 20 seconds West 1.29 feet from the point designated “1” on the Condominium Plat entitled “Sagamore Whiskey Land Condominium” and recorded among the Land Records of Baltimore City, Maryland as Plat LGA 806, thence leaving the East Side of East Cromwell Street and running through Land Unit 4 as shown on the plat, referring all courses of this description to the Baltimore City Survey Control System, (1) South 44 degrees 33 minutes 36 seconds East for a distance of 89.24 feet to the southwesternmost corner of Land Unit 1 as shown on the Condominium Correction Plat entitled “Sagamore Whiskey Land Condominium “ intended to be recorded among the aforementioned Land Records, thence binding on the outlines of Land Unit 1, (2) South 44 degrees 19 minutes 21 seconds East for a distance of 103.20 feet to intersect the North 45 degrees 32 minutes 29 seconds East 286.44 foot line of the second hereinmentioned plat, thence binding reversely along the line, (3) South 45 degrees 32 minutes 29 seconds West for a distance of 18.11 feet, thence leaving the line and running through Land Unit 4 in part and binding on the outlines of Land Unit 2 of the second hereinmentioned plat, (4) North 44 degrees 33 minutes 36 seconds West for a distance of 188.41 feet to a point on the East Side of East Cromwell Street distant South 33 degrees 57
minutes 04 seconds West 2.85 feet from point designated “2” on the first mentioned plat, thence binding on the East Side of East Cromwell Street, (5) along a curve to the left, having a radius of 700.00 feet and a length of 18.96 feet, subtended by a chord North 33 degrees 15 minutes 48 seconds East 18.96 feet to the point of beginning and containing 0.081 acres of land per survey and calculations. Being part of Land Unit 4 as shown on the Condominium Correction Plat entitled “Sagamore Whiskey Land Condominium” intended to be recorded among the Land Records of Baltimore City, Maryland.
The establishment of the Sagamore Spirit distillery and restaurant in Port Covington marks the renaissance of rye whiskey distillation in Maryland. Naming the street “Rye Street” will celebrate that heritage and ease navigation to the distillery and restaurant.
The owners of the properties adjacent to the unnamed, private street have requested that the street be named Rye Street.
Section 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, That the unnamed, private 190-foot street, located in the vicinity of 301 East Cromwell Street in Port Covington, is named Rye Street.
Section 2. And be it further ordained, That this Ordinance takes effect on the 30th day after the date it is enacted.
