SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That the Laws of Baltimore City read as follows:

 

                     Baltimore City Code

 

                     Article 4.  Finance, Property, an Procurement

 

                     SUBTITLE 22.  SAFETY INSPECTIONS

 

§ 22-1.  DEFINITIONS.

 

(A)  IN GENERAL.

 

IN THIS SUBTITLE, THE FOLLOWING TERMS HAVE THE MEANING INDICATED.

 

(B)  CITY PROPERTY.

 

(1)                     "CITY PROPERTY" MEANS ANY REAL PROPERTY, WHETHER IMPROVED OR UNIMPROVED, THAT IS:

 

(I)                     OWNED, LEASED, OR CONTROLLED BY THE CITY; OR

 

 

 

(II)                     OCCUPIED BY ANY AGENCY OR OTHER UNIT OF CITY GOVERNMENT.

 

(2)                     "CITY PROPERTY" INCLUDES BUILDINGS AND OTHER STRUCTURES, STREETS AND SIDEWALKS, PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS, LOTS, WHARVES AND DOCKS, AND OTHER PLACES.

 

(C)                     INCLUDES; INCLUDING.

 

"INCLUDES" OR "INCLUDING" MEANS BY WAY OF ILLUSTRATION AND NOT BY WAY OF LIMITATION.

 

§ 22-2.  ELECTRICAL SAFETY.

 

(A)  INSPECTIONS REQUIRED.

 

ALL CITY PROPERTY SHALL BE INSPECTED AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR TO ASSURE THAT ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING, APPLIANCES, AND EQUIPMENT IN, ON, OR IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE PROPERTY ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, SAFELY PLACED, AND PROPERLY SECURED.

 

(B)  CORRECTIVE ACTION.

 

IF ANY SAFETY HAZARD OR POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IS DISCOVERED:

 

(1)                     THE AREA AFFECTED SHALL IMMEDIATELY BE CLOSED; AND

 

(2)                     CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO ELIMINATE THE HAZARD OR POTENTIAL HAZARD.

 

SECTION 2.  AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That the catchlines contained in this Ordinance are not law and may not be considered to have been enacted as a part of this or any prior Ordinance.

 

SECTION 3.  AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this Ordinance takes effect on the 30th day after the date it is enacted.
