Congratulations to the Loyola Men’s Lacrosse Team on a Championship Season

FOR the purpose of congratulating Loyola University Maryland and the Loyola Men’s Lacrosse team on their historic NCAA Division I Championship winning season.

On May 28th, 2012, the Loyola Men’s Lacrosse team completed an amazing season by winning the program’s first NCAA Division I championship. This accomplishment capped an impressive year for Greyhounds’ sports that also featured NCAA tournament appearances by their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion Men’s Basketball team, and their Big East champion Women’s Lacrosse team.

Loyola’s run to become only the 9th program to win a NCAA Division I lacrosse championship was historic in many ways. Starting the season ranked outside of the national top 20, the Greyhounds finished the season 18-1, with their lone loss coming to Charles Street rival Johns Hopkins. These 18 wins represent the most victories in program history, and the most wins ever by an NCAA Division I champion.

In the NCAA tournament itself, Loyola set a record for fewest goals allowed in a championship game; and Loyola’s Eric Lusby, named the Championship’s Most Outstanding Player, proved that the Greyhounds were superior on offense as well as defense by setting a tourname...
