A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL concerning

The Baltimore Grand Prix

FOR the purpose of expressing support for the efforts of Baltimore Racing Development, LLC, to develop and conduct the Baltimore Grand Prix; designating Baltimore Racing Development, LLC, as the sole entity authorized to develop and conduct the Baltimore Grand Prix; and providing for a special effective date.

Recitals

WHEREAS, Baltimore Racing Development, LLC (BRD), a privately-owned Maryland limited liability company, is engaged in developing a professional car race (Baltimore Grand Prix or The Race) to be run on certain streets and roadways within the City of Baltimore; and

WHEREAS, BRD is working to have the Baltimore Grand Prix sanctioned by the Indy Racing League (IRL), the American-based open wheel racing sanctioning body, for a period of years beginning in 2011; and

WHEREAS, BRD has expended significant capital and effort to retain professionals necessary to conduct the Race, generate goodwill, and develop the expertise required to make such an event successful; and

WHEREAS, The Mayor and the City Council have been provided with information about the Baltimore Grand Prix including, but not limited to, information about BRD’s commitment to hiring and working with locally-based minority and women’s business enterprises, and the Mayor and ...
