Informational Hearing - Street Sweeping
For the purpose of inviting the Director of the Department of Public Works, the Bureau Chief of Solid Waste Management, and the Director of the Department of Transportation to attend an informational hearing regarding street sweeping and to describe the progress of the program, including the program’s expansion, any time changes, and how this information is disseminated to the community.

Baltimore has invested over $710 million to improve water quality and reduce collection system discharges from the date of the 2002 Consent Decree to the adoption of the Modified Consent Decree on October 6, 2017. In an effort to comply with the 2002 Consent Decree, in 2014 the Department of Public Works (“DPW”) expanded the street sweeping program citywide. During the informational hearing the Director of DPW, as well as the Bureau Chief of Solid Waste Management and the Director of the Department of Transportation, should explain how they measure the progress and success of the program, as well as how they will ensure that the public is aware of the purpose and goals of it and how the City benefits from this initiative.
