Request for Federal Action - Fully Fund the Corporation for National and Community Service
FOR the purpose of strongly urging the members of Maryland's Congressional delegation to vote to support funding the Corporation for National and Community Service at current levels, to sustain its valuable investment in our citizens and our community.

Recitals

WHEREAS, Funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service, which enables impactful volunteering for Baltimore residents through programs like AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, the Social Innovation Fund, the Volunteer Generation Fund, and the National Civilian Community Corps, the latter of which maintains a regional headquarters with over 200 volunteers here in the Baltimore metropolitan area, is currently threatened with severe cuts of up to a third of its budget.

WHEREAS, Baltimore, a member of the Cities of Service Coalition, benefits immensely from the contributions of its volunteers, who comprise 27% of our city?s residents, contribute 65.2 million hours of service annually, and whose service is valued at $1.5 billion.

WHEREAS, Baltimore's volunteers, supported by the Corporation for National and Community Service, serve to address the city?s most pressing challenges, including drug addiction, the aftereffects of incarceration, challenges faced by our veteran...
