Celebrating National NeighborWorks® Week - June 3 - June 10, 2006

FOR the purpose endorsing the celebration of the 23rd National NeighborWorks_ Week, held annually the 1st through the 2nd Saturday in June, in recognition of the accomplishments of the NeighborWorks_ network working in more that 4,414 urban, suburban, and rural communities across the nation to transform distressed neighborhoods.

On Thursday, June 8, 2006, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., area Home Depot volunteers will converge on 611 North Montford Street for a Home Depot Day of Service in collaboration with NeighborWorks_ America and 5 Baltimore area nonprofit housing organizations: Neighborhood Housing Services of Baltimore, Inc., St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center, Banner Neighborhoods Community Corporation, Greater Baltimore AHC, Inc., and the Mutual Housing Association of Baltimore.

At the close of their volunteer service on Thursday evening, the volunteers will have brought the residents of McElderly Park 600 man hours closer to having their much anticipated Community Center and the accompanying Amazing Port Street's Sacred Commons available for the enjoyment of their family, friends, neighborhood residents, and visitors.
