FOR the purpose of inviting all Baltimoreans to join with City government and millions of individuals and institutions worldwide in observing Earth Hour by turning off non-essential lighting from 8:30pm to 9:30pm on Saturday, March 23, 2013, and urging all of us to use Earth Hour as an opportunity to commit to take action for the planet beyond the hour.

Recitals

Climate change is a genuine and growing threat worldwide and to Baltimore in particular. Despite this all too real truth, too few people are fully aware of the facts about climate change and the many simple ways that each of us can act to reduce its causes.

For many years, the World Wildlife Fund has organized an annual “Earth Hour” to raise awareness about climate change, its causes, and solutions that we can pursue together. In recognition of Earth Hour, individuals and institutions worldwide turn off non-essential lighting for an hour as a symbol of their commitment to take action for the planet against climate change beyond the hour.

On March 23, 2013, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm, Baltimore City government, and many of Baltimore’s most recognizable institutions and landmarks, will be taking part in Earth Hour for the 5th consecutive year. In recognition of this event the following local institutions, ...
