Investigatory Hearing - Agency Permitting Processes
For the purpose of inviting the heads of the Department of Finance, Department of Public Works, Department of Transportation, Health Department, the Department of Housing and Community Development, Mayor’s Office of Information Technology, and representatives of the Baltimore Police Department and the Baltimore City Fire Department to provide information about their agencies’ permitting and licensing processes.

Recitals
Many agencies in Baltimore City provide licenses and permits to Baltimore City businesses and citizens. The processes for providing these permits and licenses is not standardized - a business or citizen cannot expect that receiving a permit from one agency will take the same amount of time as receiving a permit from another agency would take. The processes each agency employs to give permits or licenses to City businesses and residents also differ. If possible, it would be best if there were standard procedures and time frames that each agency followed in providing permits and licenses. The Baltimore City Council would like to learn what different processes City agencies currently follow in order to provide permits and licenses, and how much time these processes take.
