In Celebration of National Women’s History Month 2010

FOR the purpose of celebrating National Women’s History Month on the 30th anniversary of the Presidential Proclamation declaring the week of March 8, 1980 as the first National Women’s History Week, acknowledging the historic economic, cultural, and social achievements of women worldwide, and expressing appreciation to the women in our lives for the daily selfless contributions they make to promote and maintain the economic, social, and emotional fabric of our families.

Recitals

In 2010, in celebration of the 30th Anniversary, the National Women’s History Project will be using Writing Women Back Into History as the overarching theme, as well as highlighting themes from previous years, each of which recognizes a different aspect of women’s achievements from ecology to art and from sports to politics.

This spring, Baltimore will be the first in the nation to open the doors to a center that is devoted to women, who are more than half of the state’s adult population. The Maryland Women’s Heritage Center and Museum that will open downtown on West Lexington Street will provide a community forum to recognize stories of achievements by Maryland women – from Harriet Tubman to Rachel Carson to Marin Alsop.
