To Honor Lenny Moore, One of Baltimore’s Greatest NFL Players
FOR the purpose of encouraging efforts to honor Lenny Moore, one of the NFL’s greatest players who was key to many victories for the championship Baltimore Colts, by placing a statue that would accompany another statue already placed, which honors one of the NFL’s greatest players of the championship Baltimore Colts, Johnny Unitas.

But Johnny Unitas’ efforts alone did not take the Colts to victory; he was part of a team, and one of those Colts’ outstanding team players was Lenny Moore. According to information from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, for almost a decade, starting in the late 1950's, the Baltimore Colts were one of the National Football League’s premier teams, and flanker/halfback Lenny Moore was a major reason for the team’s successes. First used as a combination flanker and running back, his primary responsibility was to catch passes. Teaming with quarterback Johnny Unitas, the two formed a great pass-catch combo that devastated the opposition for almost a dozen years.
Lennie Moore’s football career was exceptional. In 1956, he was the NFL Rookie of the Year. In 1958, Moore’s third season, the Colts marched to the NFL championship, and Moore played a leading role, contributing 1,638 combined net yards and 14 touchdowns. In the Col...
