Municipal Government Works Month
FOR the purpose of recognizing November as Municipal Government Works Month and joining other municipalities across the country in observing the importance of local government and citizens’ participation.

WHEREAS, the City of Baltimore was incorporated in 1797.
WHEREAS, the State of Maryland is home to 156 other municipalities.
WHEREAS, municipal government represents the most responsive level of government, allowing residents to have direct access to elected officials.
WHEREAS, in an effort to educate residents about municipal government and the importance of active and informed participation, the City of Baltimore is proud to promote municipal government awareness.
WHEREAS, municipalities have enhanced the quality of life for their respective residents by providing a variety of services and maintaining municipal facilities, streets, sidewalks, playgrounds, parks, and other natural areas.
WHEREAS, municipalities help to make Maryland a great place to live, work, play and explore.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, that the City of Baltimore joins the Maryland Municipal League in recognizing November as Municipal Government Works month, and calls upon the people of Baltimore to join fellow citizens across the United St...
