A COUNCIL RESOLUTION concerning
Title
In Support of NACo - Campaign Against Sexual Exploitation
FOR the purpose of joining NACo in support of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's campaign to increase the Center's visibility as a resource in child exploitation cases and encouraging the public to access information and report such crimes through the Center's Hotline or website.
Body Recitals
The 2007-2008 Presidential Initiatives of NACo ( the National Association of Counties) include a partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to raise awareness about the alarming prevalence of child pornography, prostitution, sexual tourism, molestation, and online sexual solicitation in America, to urge member counties to join the National Center's Campaign Against Sexual Exploitation (CASE), and to create task forces to fight the abuse of children in their jurisdictions.
The President emphasizes that child exploitation is a scourge on our society, and its effects can last a lifetime. Many victims battle depression, post traumatic stress syndrome, or become drug abusers, and some may become sexual offenders themselves. Tragically, this type of victimization often carries with it an enormous social and financial burden, not only on the individual victims but on the entire community.
