A COUNCIL RESOLUTION concerning

Youth Justice Sunday! ON April 1, 2012

FOR the purpose of declaring the first Sunday of April this, and every succeeding year, as Youth Justice Sunday in Baltimore City to bring attention to the plight of Baltimore City’s youth; to advocate for the civil liberties they deserve, and; to celebrate the triumph of spirit of youth who achieve greatness through academic, athletic, social and intellectual perseverance.

Recitals

Organizers hope to bring all Baltimore City residents regardless of wealth, race, religion, gender, or orientation together to create a community of harmony and to educate people about the hardships youth in Baltimore face. Ultimately, we must all do our part to ensure every single Baltimorean has access to the educational opportunities and support needed to become a fully functioning and productive member of society.

Starting in 2010, many groups have come together at an event entitled Youth Justice Sunday to highlight the need of our youth to be recognized as true leaders and to recognize that many our young people do not have access to the support systems they deserve and need.
