Congratulations to Edmondson and City College on their State Basketball Championships

FOR the purpose of congratulating the Edmondson-Westside High School Red Storm and the City College Black Knights boys basketball teams on their tremendously successful state championship seasons.

Recitals

On March 15th, the City College and Edmondson-Westside High School boys’ basketball teams earned Baltimore it’s 35th and 36th state championships since Baltimore joined the state athletic association 21 years ago. Both teams capped impressive runs in doing so and have made Baltimore very proud.

The Edmondson-Westside High School (EWHS) Red Storm successfully defended their Class 1A title from last year by defeating Allegany 54-51. Led by coach Darnell Dantzler, the Red Storm ended the season on a 7 game winning streak to bring EWHS it’s second state crown. In the title game, EWHS recorded a true team win, with contributions from 10 players, to hand Allegany its second loss of the year. Seniors Sean Burke and Josh Garrett each scored in double figures to lead the scoring in the championship match.

The City College Black Knights rode an even longer win streak to the school’s 3rd State title, capping an undefeated 27-0 season by taking the Class 3A crown to go with their Baltimore City championship....
